Reading order: every book of the Keeping
The Keeping is one world told in seven stories. A new book comes out on the ninth of every month, and release order is the easiest reading order.
Where to start
Start with The Names I Woke With, the opening of The Borrowed Dead. It is the first way into the Keeping, and the trilogy tells a complete story in three books.
The Aumbry Years is the second front door. Its first book, The Night of Names, opens the school saga with a new student walking in off the road, and you can begin there without reading anything else first.
Where The Founding of the Aumbry fits
The Founding of the Aumbry is a standalone novel of the Keeping, set between the trilogy and the school saga. It tells how the school was built and what it cost the man who built it. Read it after The Freed.
The other series
The Nightcrosser is set in Naples, The Written Bones in Prague, and The Gravesalt Road on the far salt-flats. Each one stands on its own, with its own city and its own way of keeping the dead. The Unconnected, on the French Riviera, is still being written.
